Mission Statement: The Willard Police Department’s mission is to prevent crime, enforce the law, and help people.

Vision Statement: We will enhance public safety and improve the quality of life in Willard by exemplifying our values of professionalism and dedication through the use of partnerships, creative problem solving, and innovative police strategies.

The Willard Police Department is a 24/7 full-service police department that is fully oriented toward community policing. The department is led by Tom McClain, a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and Major David Richardson, serving Willard since 1995.  Sergeant Shannon Shipley oversees investigations and Corporal Bob Bell serves as the Field Training and Firearms Instructor.

There are 5 full-time and 5 reserve officers serving the citizens of the City of Willard. Donna Gordon, the Administrative Assistant, organizes the filing and flow of paperwork at police headquarters. The Police Department utilizes 6 patrol vehicles, 1 police package Harley Davidson motorcycle and several police bicycles.

The Police Department headquarters, located at 795 Hughes Road in Willard, MO was dedicated as the “Joe L. Cosby Law Enforcement Justice Center” in May 2002. The police department is pro-active and participates in the following programs:

  • D.A.R.E.
  • Safety Town
  • Personal Safety Seminars
  • Neighborhood Watch
  • Charity Boxing (a community wide fundraising effort)

 

The police department is dispatched by the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Call 911 anytime you need a police officer dispatched.
