MATERIALS ACCEPTED AT THE WILLARD COMMUNITY RECYCLING CENTER

Location: 613 Tower Rd. (at Jackson St. across from Prarie View Shopping Center)
Hours of Operation: Every day 8:00 am to 5:00 pm 

Below is listed the recyclable material accepted at the recycling center.

All materials must be sorted into the categories listed below:

Aluminum Cans: 
 
Empty, preferably crushed or flattened.
 
Tin Cans and Lids:
 
Up to one gallon. Rinse food cans, labels do not have to be removed.
 
Glass bottles and jugs (brown, green, and clear glass only):
 
We no longer accept glass at the Willard Recycling Center. We apologize for the inconvenience.
 
Plastic:  SMALL PLASTIC ITEMS ONLY (as listed)
 
Plastic containers up to one gallon that have a number "1","2", or "3" on or near the bottom.

Examplesinclude: 
Milk jugs
Plastic fruit juice bottles 
Soda and water bottles 
Liquid laundry detergent containers 
Liquid dish-washing containers 
Bleach bottles and jugs 
Mouthwash containers 
Liquid fabric softener containers 
Shampoo and hair conditioner 
Windshield solvent bottles 
Anti-freeze containers
 

Paper: 

 
Most paper products accepted. All paper is placed in one container at the recycling center and does not have to be sorted.

Examples include:
Newspapers & Slick inserts
Typing paper
Telephone books
Scratchpads
Books
Envelopes
Magazines & Catalogs
Colored paper
Bondpaper
Construction paper
Calculator tape
Carbonless (NCR) paper
Computer paper
Non metallic gift wrap
Letterhead/Stationarv
Greeting cards
Photocopy paper
Feedbags
 

 

Pasteboard:

 
Non-corrugated cardboard such as:
cereal boxes
macaroni and cheese boxes
paper egg cartons
shoeboxes
facial tissue boxes
paper towel/toilet tissue
pasteboard tubes etc.
Remove any plastic or wax paper liner, flatten, and place in Paper Bin at recycling center.
 

Corrugated cardboard: 

 
Flatten Boxes, tape and staples do not have to be removed.
 

 

 

NO LIQUIDS, CHEMICALS, TIRES, EXPLOSIVES, OR ANY HAZARDOUS WASTE ACCEPTED. If you are in need of disposal for these types of products, please contact the City of Springfield Household Chemical Collection Center, 864-2000 to schedule an appointment.
