📢 Storm Sirens & Severe Weather Preparedness

As storms roll through our region, we want to remind Willard residents about how outdoor warning sirens are intended to work, and how you can stay safe and informed. If you have concerns about a siren appearing to be inoperable, please let us know and we will notify Greene County.

🔊 What Storm Sirens Do
Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outside during a tornado warning or other life-threatening weather event. While you might hear them indoors if you're close to a siren or in an older home, they’re not meant to be relied upon as an indoor alert system, especially in newer or more insulated buildings.

🏠 What to Use Indoors
To stay informed and safe inside your home, we strongly encourage a layered approach that includes:

  • NOAA Weather Radios (battery-powered, in case of outages)

  • Smartphone weather apps with alerts enabled

  • Local TV or radio stations for live updates

  • Social media updates from reliable sources like:
