Save MO Lives

Willard, MO - The City of Willard Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across Missouri for the “Click It or Ticket” campaign, running May 19 – June 1, 2025. Officers will be stepping up enforcement efforts to encourage seat belt use, because the safest trip is the one where everyone arrives alive.

Despite advancements in vehicle technology, a seat belt remains a person’s best defense in a crash. In 2024, more than 60% of people killed in Missouri traffic crashes were not wearing a seat belt.

While Missouri’s overall seat belt use has improved in recent years to 88.3%, it still lags behind the national average of 91.2%, and certain groups, including teens and pickup truck drivers, are buckling up far less often.

"Nearly every day, someone loses their life on Missouri roads simply because they didn’t buckle up,” said Tom McClain, Chief of Police. “We’re committed to doing everything we can to change that statistic. Seat belts save lives, and we will be out helping remind drivers and passengers to make the smart choice."
