We are excited to share that a major milestone was reached today at the Willard Aquatic Center.
After a lengthy process to repair an aging pump and replace its impeller, the final part arrived this morning. Our Parks Department immediately got to work and, in a single day, successfully lowered the approximately 1,000-pound pump assembly into the pump room, secured it to its pedestal, and reconnected it to the pool's mechanical systems.
We are now awaiting some safety grates for the pool. While we continue to work with our supplier on their delivery, we are also exploring alternative sources in an effort to keep progressing toward opening as quickly as possible. On a day like today, we know a dip in the pool would have been especially nice. Once the grates are installed, we will be able to begin filling the pool and preparing for opening.
While today's progress happened quickly, the project itself has been underway for some time behind the scenes. We appreciate everyone's patience and want to thank our Parks Department team for their hard work in getting us this close to the finish line.
We'll continue to provide updates as we move toward opening up for pool season.
