City of Willard Announces Resignation of City Administrator Wes Young

WILLARD, MO – The City of Willard announces that City Administrator Wes Young has submitted his resignation after accepting the position of Assistant City Administrator with the City of Nixa.

Young joined the City of Willard in 2024 and has served as City Administrator, helping lead the organization through a period of stabilization while positioning the City for continued operational, infrastructure, and community growth. During his tenure, the City focused on utility and infrastructure improvements, long-range planning, organizational development, and investments designed to support the community’s continued success.

“Serving the City of Willard has been an honor,” said Young. “I am proud of what the Board of Alders, staff, and community have accomplished together. While there is certainly more work ahead, I believe the city is on much stronger footing today than when I arrived. Willard has an excellent staff, a strong leadership team, and tremendous potential for success.”

Young’s resignation will become effective July 10th to allow a transition period designed to support continuity of operations and ongoing projects. City leadership will work together to ensure a smooth transition and maintain momentum on current initiatives

Mayor Smith thanked Young for his service and contributions to the community.

“Wes has helped guide the City through a period of meaningful progress and has worked diligently on behalf of our residents, businesses, and staff. We appreciate his service to Willard and wish him continued success in his new role.

While we are certainly disappointed to see Wes leave, the City is well positioned to continue moving forward. We have a strong staff, important projects underway, and the search for our next City Administrator has already begun. Our focus remains on maintaining momentum and continuing to serve the residents of Willard.”
