This Task Force was established by City Ordinance to guide and assist with the development, promotion and implementation of strategies in order to identify and achieve the City's economic development goals. This Task Force consists of up to nine (9) members recommended by the Mayor with approval of the Board of Aldermen. Membership consist of the following:
Duties of this Task Force include:
- The Mayor.
- Two (2) members shall be members of the Board of Aldermen.
- The City's Director of Planning and Development.
- The President of the Chamber of Commerce.
- Two (2) other members of the Chamber of Commerce.
- Two (2) residents from the City.
- An owner, manager or employee of a City business or an owner of real property located within the City.

Duties of this Task Force include:
- With the City's Comprehensive Plan serving as the foundation for community vision, identify elements of the land development regulations that might be amended in such a way as to encourage potential future development activities
- Assist in developing an overall economic development strategy and vision for the City.
- Explore various funding options available at either the state or federal levels that may facilitate and encourage economic development and make recommendations to the Board of Aldermen on pursuing those funding sources.
- Identify steps that all stakeholders can take to foster a positive business environment, encourage economic development and create new jobs in the City.
